Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2026 — five days of books, ideas and culture

Ubud Writers & Readers Festival returns to Bali from 21–25 October 2026 under the theme Samarasā: Awareness. Empathy. Action. The main programme runs from 22–25 October, with opening and special events on 21 October. The festival brings together writers, journalists, poets, artists and public figures from Indonesia and around the world.

The programme includes author conversations and discussions, masterclasses, film screenings, literary lunches, performances, music, spoken word and evening events. Organisers announce more than 100 events and over 150 programme participants. The main venue is Taman Baca, Jalan Raya Sanggingan, Ubud, Bali 80571; other events take place across Ubud. The international programme is primarily in English.
