Buleleng district is an administrative area within Buleleng Regency on Bali’s north coast, centred on Singaraja. The similar names can be confusing: this page is about Buleleng district, not the much larger Buleleng Regency. The district brings together the town, nearby residential communities and a stretch of coast, so choosing the exact neighbourhood or village matters when looking for a place to stay, a service or something for everyday life.

Singaraja gives the area much of its urban character. It is the regency seat, and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha brings a university setting alongside government offices, established neighbourhoods, shops and local services. Markets and financial institutions serve people from surrounding communities as well as the town centre. Someone comparing a room near campus, a family home in a residential quarter or a service in town will be looking at different day-to-day surroundings, even though each address may simply say Buleleng.

The district also reaches the north coast. Pemaron, Tukadmungga, Anturan and Kalibukbuk are among the villages included in the wider Lovina/Kalibukbuk tourism area. That area is not confined to one village or even one administrative district, so “Lovina” can describe a broader coastal stretch than the location name on an address. For accommodation, a meeting point or a ride, checking the village is more useful than relying on the tourism label alone.

Near Singaraja, the former Buleleng Harbour offers another way to understand the town. It was once an important maritime gateway and is now a historic waterfront area rather than the island’s main working port. Its old harbour buildings and coastal setting connect the city’s trading past with the present-day neighbourhoods around it. This is a local landmark, not a description of every part of the district: inland streets, the urban centre and coastal villages each have their own pace.

Buleleng is not only a town centre and a visitor coastline. The district includes 29 villages and urban wards, with residential areas and local communities beyond the best-known coastal names. Daily needs can differ accordingly: a student may look near campus, a family may prioritise schools and routine services, while someone staying by the coast may care more about transport and practical help nearby. The right location depends on where ordinary trips begin and end.

When comparing a home or room, a driver, repairs, household help, work or a professional service, look for the specific kelurahan or desa and confirm how it relates to Singaraja or the coast. A district name alone can cover several different settings. Thinking about the route you will actually take—between home, campus, the market, the old harbour or the shoreline—makes a local search more useful than choosing by a familiar place-name.

Think of this page as a local directory for Buleleng district: share a private offer or useful notice, or browse for accommodation, jobs, transport, goods and services around Singaraja and the north coast. Start with the part of the district that fits your plans, whether that means a student room near campus or practical help closer to the shore.
